Edna Louise Spear Elementary School prekindergarten students in Sue Giglio’s and Gina Santini’s classes got to explore the underwater town of Luna Bay with a puffer fish and his sea creature friends.

The colorful picture book, “The Curious Puffer,” was a highlight of the day when it was read to them by visiting Long Island authors and mother/son duo Claire Kennedy and Ian Hunter. The story offered some of the North Fork’s well-known local landmarks and a mystery of missing cookies.

“The kids loved it,” Ms. Santini said.
