Save-a-Pet Helps Bring Soldier's Dog Home from Afghanistan

Two animal rescue organizations banded together to bring home Staff Sgt. Kevin Brady's dog, Bailey.

The Port Jefferson Station-based nonprofit Save-a-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center has helped reunite a soldier with his dog, according to a story that aired Thursday on Fios 1.

The organization, along with Guardians of Rescue's Paws of War program, raised $5,000 to bring home Bailey, a dog adopted by Staff Sgt. Kevin Brady while he was stationed in Afghanistan with the National Guard for 12 years. Brady, 32, initially couldn't afford to bring his dog home before the organizations stepped in to help.

Brady and Bailey were reunited on July 4.

"She provided a lot of comfort a lot of times, and leaving her there just didn't seem right," Brady told Fios 1.
