Spa Grand Opening, Murder Mystery Charity, Doctor Who Fan Event This Week

It's a week of grand openings and fan events this week.

Here's a look at what's happening in Port Jefferson this week.

- Science on Tap goes "Back to the Stone Age with John Shea": John Shea, professor of anthropology at Stony Brook University, a world expert in Stone Age hi tech weaponry, and featured with Alan Alda in the recent PBS mini-series The Human Spark, will be the guest on the next episode of Science on Tap. Recorded before a live audience in our new location, the Stony Brook Yacht Club, on the evening of November 12th, 2013, the show will be posted on the website of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. Hosting the event will be Journalism School professor and 60 Minutes alumnus Steven Reiner. For more information click here.

- Doctor Who Fan Event. Calling all Whovians, let’s celebrate the Doctor’s 50th anniversary. Hop in the TARDIS and bring your sonic screwdrivers, bowties, fez’s and your sense of adventure as we spend a day in the life of the Doctor’s companion and do all things WHO! Cos-players are welcome! -Five-Course Wine Dinner at Graceful Rose with Raphael Wines: Graceful Rose will serve a five-course wine dinner paired with Raphael Wines on Wednesday, November 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $60 per person, plus tax and gratuity. - Smoothe Laser & Medi Spa Launch Party/ Grand Opening Celebration:  Proudly serving the community since 2004, Smoothe Laser & Medi Spa is back to its roots on 25A in East Setauket. Owner Debbie Stevens says “We’re thrilled to be back in the area – we love this community!” The event begins on Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. Click here for party details.

- Murder Mystery Charity Dinner at St. Joseph's College: Join the St. Joseph's College Step Squad in our fight against bullying and have a fantastic time as well! All proceeds will go to Stomp Out Bullying, a non-profit organization that works to end all forms of bullying across the nation. Tickets are $15 at the door and dinner and show are included. The title of the play is "Three Doors to Death" and is interactive with the audience, all ages will love it! Raffle baskets, 50/50, and surprises available to win! Come have a great time and support a great cause!
