Firefighters brought a woman to safety after she drove a Jeep over the bulkhead and got stuck on a dock at a Long Island marina on Sunday.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A vehicle plunged over a bulkhead and onto the dock at a Long Island marina over the weekend, officials told Patch.

Port Jefferson Firefighters told Patch they responded to a call reporting that a 2008 Jeep drove over the bulkhead at Brookhaven Town Marina on Sunday around 6:42 p.m.

"The solo occupant inadvertently left the parking area, crashing through the railing and landing on the floating dock below," fire department officials said.

Police said the woman who was operating the Jeep was in a parking spot when she accelerated too hard and went over a divider and landed on a floating dock.

Firefighters removed the woman from the dock, secured the vehicle, and the driver was transported to an area hospital by Port Jefferson EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
