Press release from the Port Jefferson School District:
Nov. 22, 2022
After weeks of rehearsal, Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s drama club members took the stage for three weekend performances on Nov. 18-20 of Henrik Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People.”
Dozens of students took part in the fall production as actors and as part of the lighting, audio, stage construction and refreshments crews. The students collaborated under the direction of Anthony Butera to bring the story to life. In addition to the many skilled actors at the high school, this performance featured two elementary students, Timothy Amadio and Lukas Peterson, in roles as Morten Stockmann and Elijah Stockmann, sons of the main character, played by Albert Peterson.

Other talented Port Jefferson students on stage included Kaylee Friedlander, Mari Fukuto, Marija Garue, William Harris, Narin Karakurum, Rose Meliker-Hammock, Marlo Pepe, Maya Shand, Victoria Snaden, Isabela Thomsen and Gianna Viviano.
The show was presented in a small black-box theater setting, which provided a unique experience for the cast, crew and audience. The cast performed within a small stage area, with the audience seated right in front of them and to their sides. The arrangement allowed the audience to be close to the action on stage.
