Vehicle Veers Off Main Street In Port Jefferson, Striking Pole Thursday Night: Police

The man driving the vehicle was not hurt, Suffolk police say.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A vehicle veered off Main Street in Port Jefferson and struck a utility pole, damaging it on Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

A man driving southbound on Main Street got distracted and looked away from the roadway, causing his vehicle to veer off the roadway and strike a light pole at around 10:30 p.m., according to police.

He was not hurt in the crash, police said.
