2 People Charged In $387,000 Phone Scam In Nassau: Police
A person claiming to be Chase Bank fraud employee convinced the victim to make several withdrawals from her account, police said.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Two people from Massachusetts were arrested in Greenvale last week for phone scam that took place in February, police said.
On Feb. 27, a female victim, 61, received a phone call from an unknown man stating he was a representative from the Chase Bank fraud department. He advised the victim of suspicious transactions on her account, police said.
From February 27 through April 28, the suspect had convinced the victim to make multiple withdrawals resulting in a total loss of $387,000.

On May 2, the Port Washington Police Department with the assistance of Nassau County Police Department conducted an investigation in front of 90 Northern Boulevard in Greenvale.
Dominique Jones, 24, of Chelsea, Massachusetts, attempted to flee the scene in a 2018 Jeep Compass. She collided with a Port Washington Police vehicle and an unoccupied parked SUV, authorities said.

During the course of the arrest, Jones resisted but was subdued and placed under
arrest, police said.
Jean Saint Fort, 22, also of Chelsea, Massachusetts, who was the passenger, was placed under arrest without incident, police said.
Subsequent to the investigation, a 9mm handgun was located inside of the vehicle. Multiple stolen credit cards were found in Jones possession, police said.
Jones was charged with attempted grand larceny, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two-counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and criminal mischief, police said.
Saint Fort was charged with attempted grand larceny and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
They were arraigned on May 8, 2025 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors about potential scams or fraud.
