Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) urgently needs volunteers to join its efforts to stop bullying and cyber-bullying among school-age children. CAPS is Long Island’s leading non-profit resource on the prevention of bullying, child abuse and neglect, and, through its Bully Prevention Center, provides youth violence prevention and child safety education at no cost to local schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
“Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization, and without them, our work would not be possible. While they come from different backgrounds and professions, all share the desire to make a difference in a child’s life—and they do as CAPS Volunteer Presenters,” said Alane Fagin, Executive Director.
The non-profit is seeking individuals in Nassau and Suffolk to present its bully and cyber-bully prevention programs to students in classrooms across Long Island. “Our prevention through education programs have been proven to be effective in teaching children how to stay safe from bullies, help others, and become good online citizens,” said Ms. Fagin. Professional training is provided free of charge.
