Annual Manhasset Bay Kayak Run Set For July 21

Participants can use kayaks, paddle boards or canoes to navigate their way around the five mile course at their leisure.

At the sound of cannon fire, participants will paddle around the bay during the annual Manhasset Bay Kayak Run in July.

The kayak run kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 at the Town Dock, located at 347 Main St. Paddlers should finish by 1:30 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the Community Chest of Port Washington, the event host. The organization serves those in need in the Port Washington community. The Town of North Hempstead will also serve as event host.

Kayak rentals are available for discounted rates at Atlantic Outfitters, located at 405 Main St., and Koastal Paddle, located 158 Manorhaven Boulevard.

For those without a kayak, or those who would like another, winners of a raffle drawing following the event will receive a kayak, or one of many other prizes. The raffle drawing starts at 12:30 p.m.

Entry fee for adults over 20 years of age is $25; $45 if paid on July 21. Young adults and children pay $5, $25 if paid on July 21. Visit www.portchest.org to register and pay online. Paper registration forms are available at the Town Dock, Atlantic Outfitters, or online at www.portchest.org/calendar. Entry forms and payment can be dropped off at the Community Chest (382 Main St.) or Atlantic Outfitters (Inspiration Wharf, 405 Main St.)

A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, July 22 at 10 a.m.
