Fire Breaks Out At Senior Living Complex In Port Washington
One person was hospitalized as a result of the Monday afternoon fire.

One person was hospitalized after a fire broke out at a senior living apartment complex in Port Washington on Monday afternoon, according to Port Washington Fire Department Chief Bryan Vogeley.
The PWFD responded to The Amsterdam at Harborside, located at 300 East Overlook, for a notification for a waterflow alarm at 4:19 p.m. Firefighters were met by building maintenance personnel who said there was smoke and a possible fire on the sixth floor. They responded and discovered a fire in one apartment.
Firefighters evacuated residents from the sixth floor of the complex and extinguished the blaze. One person was transported to a local hospital, Vogeley said.

Multiple PWFD units responded to the scene. They received mutual aid at the scene from Roslyn, Glenwood, Manhasset-Lakeville, Great Neck Vigilants, Williston Park, Sea Cliff and Garden City Park fire departments, as well as Nassau County Emergency Ambulance Bureau and Nassau County OEM. Mutual aid from Plandome, Albertson, New Hyde Park, and East Norwich covered the district during the fire.
The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office.
