Fireworks Display Set For Saturday At North Hempstead Beach Park
The Town of North Hempstead is hosting a fireworks display this Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, in Port Washington.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — A free drive-in New Year’s fireworks show will be hosted at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington this coming Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.
The fireworks display — produced by Santore — will be in synch with music that will be accessible through dashboard radio. The event, running from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., will be held in the south lot of the park. Gates to the park will be open an hour beforehand to allow attendees to park their cars.
The event’s sponsors, the Town of North Hempstead, will be enforcing social distancing guidelines at all times, according to a press release. At the event, which is restricted to Town of North Hempstead residents, all attendees are required to remain in their cars unless they are using the restroom facilities and they must wear a mask when they are outside. Capacity is limited to 800 cars to accommodate social distancing guidelines.

“We know that 2020 was a tough year for so many people,” stated Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth in a news release. “This fireworks event not only marks the start of a new year, but it will allow everyone to get out of the house and have some fun while still being safe and maintaining social distancing guidelines.”

Food and refreshments will not be available for purchase, however, residents are encouraged to bring their own snacks. The Town is encouraging attendees to bring non-perishable/canned foods to the events as part of North Hempstead's donation drive. Vehicles will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis. Attendees are not required to register ahead of time.
