Get Rid Of Old, Unused Drugs At Town's 'Shed The Meds' Event

North Hempstead's first "Shed the Meds" event of the year will be held on Saturday, April 9. Here's what you can and cannot drop off.

MANHASSET, NY — The Town of North Hempstead's first "Shed the Meds" event of the year returns Saturday, April 9.

The pharmaceutical drop-off event — which takes place at the Town Hall parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon — gives residents the opportunity to safely dispose of their unwanted and expired medication. Not only will this keep potentially dangerous drugs out of the hands of children, but it will also help protect local groundwater and waterways, according to Town officials.

  • prescriptions (including patches and ointments)
