Jet Skier Found Unconscious In Nassau Waters Flown To Hospital
Police and firefighters say the jet skier was found unconscious face down in the water. He had to be flown to a hospital.

SANDS POINT, NY — A jet-skier suffered a medical emergency near Sands Point over the weekend and had to be flown to a hospital.
A 38-year-old man was riding a jet ski around 7 p.m. Sunday when he suffered a medical episode, police said. A witness found him face down in the water. The man was unconscious, the Port Washington Fire Department said.
New Rochelle police and Town of North Hempstead bay constables pulled him ashore to North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington and the man was flown by a Nassau County police helicopter to a hospital. He was in serious condition, police said.

The Port Washington Fire Department and Nassau County police marine units were also called to the water rescue.
Firefighters said the water rescue followed two other rescues nearby.

Around 3:15 p.m. Sunday, a windsurfer in Hempstead Harbor was distress in and had to be pulled ashore by a good Samaritan on a jet ski. In that incident, the windsurfer was not injured and refused medical attention.
Then around 5 p.m., firefighters were called for a boat that became trapped on a sand bar with distressed swimmers off the coast of Half Moon Lane in Sands Point. The swimmers were pulled from the water and returned to their boat, which was pulled from the sand bar.
