Kid-Friendly Activities At Port Washington Library In August
Port Washington Public Library is offering a host of kid-friendly programs and activities in August. Here's what's on tap.
PORT WASHINGTON, NY — In-person programs and activities are back at Port Washington Public Library. Patch has compiled a list of kid-friendly events that are on tap for August. Registration may be required. More information about events can be found here.
- When: Aug. 10, 10 - 10:30 a.m.
- Description: Join your favorite librarians in the Children's Garden for stories, songs, and fingerplays. Limited capacity, registration required. Click the title above to register.

- When: Aug. 12, 3 - 3:45 p.m.
- Description: Make inanimate objects come to life through the power of stop motion! Create stop motion animation simply by using one of the library's iPads and a bit of creativity. For children entering grades 3 to 6 in the fall. Limited capacity, registration required. Click the title above to register.
'Terrace Band Hoot!' Rocks Lower Main Street
- When: Aug. 12, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- Description: Based on the success of the local 'Port Outdoors Dine & Shop' events, lower Main Street in Port Washington will be closed once again on Thursday, August 12th. PWPL's resident musicologist and Media Librarian Tony Traguardo will once again take advantage of this opportunity by leading a band of local musicians in a rocking live concert event! Dancing (in the street!) is highly encouraged. PLEASE NOTE: Even though the Library will be open, patrons will NOT be permitted access to the Terrace after 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 12th.

- When: Aug. 13, 10 - 10:30 a.m.
- Description: Join your favorite librarians at Blumenfeld Park (across the street from the library) for Park Story Time! No registration required. Story Time will be held virtually if weather is not permitting (If you are not already registered for our Friday Virtual Story Time please email child@pwpl.org to be added to the list).
- When: Aug. 18, 2:30 - 3:15 p.m.
- Description: Join the librarians for a craft in the garden. For children entering grades 3 to 6 in the fall. Click the title above to register.
SoundSwap on the Terrace: 'Tails and Tales' Summer Reading Club in Song
- When: Aug. 20, 4:30 - 6 p.m.
- Description: Join Tony Traguardo and Erich Stollberger for an afternoon program of story songs, in celebration of the library's summer reading program 'Tails and Tales!' This will take place LIVE on the library's terrace.
