LIE Fatality: Truck Driver Dies After Being Rear-Ended By Second Truck
Nassau County police say a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound along the LIE when it rear-ended a dump truck, causing it to overturn.
NORTH HILLS, NY — A truck driver was killed after being rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on the Long Island Expressway early Friday, authorities said.
It happened at Exit 36, in the North Hills area, around 3:15 a.m.
Nassau County police say a 2013 Mack Truck was traveling eastbound along the LIE when it rear-ended a 1996 dump truck, causing it to overturn.

The driver of the dump truck, only identified as a 59-year-old man, was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 43-year-old man operating the Mack Truck, who remained at the scene, was not injured, according to authorities. No criminality is suspected.
The crash temporarily shut down three eastbound lanes of the LIE, at Exit 36 - Searingtown Road.
