PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Long Island Rail Road service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Port Washington and Great Neck on Monday due to police activity, according to transit officials.

A spokesperson for the MTA confirmed to Patch that authorities were called to the Port Washington train station around 8:15 a.m. for the report of an unattended package. Upon further investigation, authorities determined that the package did not pose a threat.
