Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games Returns Aug. 27

The annual Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games will feature competitions, kid-friendly activities, music, and more.

OLD WESTBURY, NY — Saturday, Aug. 27 is poised to be jam-packed with live music, games, and family-friendly activities for the annual Long Island Scottish Festival and Highland Games.

Back for its 60th year, the event at Old Westbury Gardens will feature competitions such as a caber toss, tug o' war, and stone put. Straight from Scotland, primal pipe and drum band Albannach will headline the day's entertainment acts.

At the event, attendees can also enjoy performances by Celtic band Bangers and Mash, Highland & Country Dancers, and the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment.

For children, there will be face painting, Crazy Carter Storytelling & Puppets, a Moon Bounce, jousting, and kilt-making demonstrations.

"Old Westbury Gardens has hosted this event for over 20 years and we are thrilled to welcome it back once again," said Nancy Costopulos, president and CEO of Old Westbury Gardens. "With the variety of activities, competitions, entertainment acts, and vendors, the day will have something for everyone to enjoy!"

Early bird tickets are available at 20 percent off. Day-of admission tickets cost $20 a piece. For those aged 62 and above, tickets cost $18. The price for people 7 to 17 years old is $8.

Tickets can be purchased at www.oldwestburygardens.org. The event is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Auxillary parking will be at Westbury High School. Shuttle buses will take people to the festival from there.
