LOOP Women's Clothing Boutique Opens In 'Extremely Welcoming' Port Washington
"We're very happy to be in Port Washington. The town is unlike anything," said co-owner Afshin Haghani.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — LOOP, a women's clothing boutique, opened in Port Washington in mid-May. The community has embraced the new shop, said co-owner Afshin Haghani.
"We’re very happy to be in Port Washington," Haghani told Patch. "The town is unlike anything. I’ve been in business for over 30 years. It is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. They are extremely friendly, extremely kind, extremely approachable, extremely welcoming. I think that’s the key word. They are welcoming. And we are extremely happy to be in Port. Hopefully we can open a men’s store in Port soon as well. Right now, we are concentrating on LOOP, just for women."
Haghani and his brother, David, also own Gallery Couture and LOOP Men in Manhasset.

LOOP, at 11 Main Street, is a luxe casual boutique offering shirts, dresses, skirts, and more. Haghani said he offers clothing at a "very accessible" price point.
"The item of the season, we will have it," he said. "Sometimes, we will have items you don’t think you need until we carry it and you start seeing it on various runways and you know, 'OK, this is a trend. I have to get on board.'"

LOOP strives to cater to women who may have kids at home.
"She has a casual lifestyle but she understands quality," Haghani said of his target customer. "She understands the fashion style. But her lifestyle is casual. Her lifestyle is more local than international. That’s what we gear it toward."
Port Washington has been "extraordinary," Haghani said.
"Open arms and open hearts from the moment we opened the store."
While LOOP Men in Manhasset was opened within the past year, Gallery Couture has been in business for more than 30 years. Customers of Gallery Couture traveling from Port Washington now have a more local women's clothing shop. Haghani is also familiar with his customer base as a result.
"We’ve been in Manhasset for such a long time that we know the needs of every different town," he said. "Every town on Long Island, to me, is its own country. Every little town has a completely different personality, different needs. Since we have a lot of customers from Port Washington who shop at Gallery Couture, we thought it would be a good idea to open one. Thankfully we were right."
The constantly shifting moods of the fashion world is Haghani's favorite part of the business.
"If you make a mistake in one season, the next season is six months later, and you can erase it," he said. "It’s ever changing. It’s constantly on the move. For someone like me who gets bored easily, this is a perfect position."
