Lucretia Steele, Former Manorhaven Deputy Mayor, Dies At 71

Steele served on the Manorhaven Board of Trustees from 2011 to 2015.

Lucretia Steele, a former deputy mayor and trustee in the Village of Manorhaven, died of ovarian cancer on April 17. She was 71.

Steele, a member of the Manorhaven Revival Party, was a trustee from 2011 to 2015 and served as deputy mayor from 2013 to 2015 under Mayor Giovanna Giunta.

Following her time in office, she co-founded the Manorhaven Action Committee, a civic group that advocated on behalf of the community.

Steele frequently spoke out on issues to improve the quality of life in Manorhaven, including less development.

A waterfront memorial service will be held at Bay Walk Park in Port Washington North on Saturday at 10 a.m.
