Hometown: Port Washington
Hero's job: Education
Relationship to nominee: I fell in love with her in 1989 ... her ability to be a miracle worker with special needs kids is incredible. Married and raised 3 kids in Port.
Reason for recognition: She never stopped working with her special needs students. She has a master's degree in occupational therapy from Columbus University. For the first time I got to watch and listen to her work... it's a miracle. The kids who needed stability the most got it 1000 percent.
One thing to know: Biggest heart and loves helping children challenged. When I walk around town she occasionally runs onto former students... they love her.
Thank you for all you do, Sharon!
