MINEOLA, NY — Health officials are warning Nassau County residents to avoid bathing at 13 beaches as heavy rains could lead to elevated bacteria levels. The Nassau County Department of Health issued the advisory Tuesday as a precautionary measure. The beaches are known to be impacted by stormwater runoff, the health department said.

The advisory will be lifted at 7 a.m. Wednesday unless heavy rains continue or water samples show elevated bacterial levels.

Centre Island Sound – Bayville
Creek Club – Lattingtown
Lattingtown Beach – Lattingtown
Laurel Hollow Beach – Laurel Hollow
Morgan Sound – Glen Cove
North Hempstead Beach Park – Port Washington
Pryibil Beach – Glen Cove
Ransom Beach – Bayville
Theodore Roosevelt Beach – Oyster Bay
Sea Cliff Village Beach – Sea Cliff
Soundside Beach – Bayville
Stehli Beach – Bayville
Tappen Beach – Glenwood Landing

The health department added that Biltmore Beach in Massapequa, Hewlett Point Beach in East Rockaway and Piping Rock Beach Club in Locust Valley remain closed until further notice due to elevated bacterial levels.
