National Night Out In Town Of North Hempstead Scheduled For Aug. 2

National Night Out in North Hempstead will include live music, dancing, raffles, crime prevention resources, and a parade.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — National Night Out, a nationwide community-building campaign focused on raising awareness about crime and drug prevention, returns to the Town of North Hempstead next week.

Celebrations will be held in Manhasset, Port Washington, and Westbury on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

"National Night Out is an annual community-building initiative that helps make our neighborhoods safer and works to foster a true sense of community," Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena said. "All are welcome to come and enjoy a night out with plenty fun and activities for kids and adults alike."

Festivities will begin at 3 p.m. at Whitney Pond Park in Manhasset — and will include live music, dancing, education on crime prevention, refreshments, raffles, and giveaways.

New this year, Alvan Petrus Park in Port Washington will host its very first National Night Out from 4 to 7 p.m.

Another National Night Out event will kick off at the Salvation Army Westbury Corps Community Center at 5:30 p.m. Unlike the ones in Manhasset and Port Washington, the event in Westbury will include a parade. The celebration will continue at Martin "Bunky" Reid Park on Broadway Avenue and Urban Avenue.
