North Hempstead To Remember 9/11 Victims With Solemn Ceremony

It takes place on Thursday morning at Manhasset Valley Park.

MANHASSET, NY — Town of North Hempstead officials will host a memorial service commemorating the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

The ceremony also marks the completion of the final phase of the town's 9/11 Memorial Man, an expanded and newly constructed space that will be formally unveiled at Thursday's event.

Moments of silence will be held at 8:46 a.m. and 9:03 a.m., which signify when the planes struck the World Trade Center.

There will be a rifle salute and the playing of taps. A bagpiper will perform "Amazing Grace" to conclude the ceremony.

It's scheduled for 8:15 a.m. at Manhasset Valley Park.
