WASHINGTON, DC — Two Democratic representatives from New York hand-delivered a copy of a House Ethics complaint they filed against George Santos to the Long Island congressman's office on Tuesday. Richie Torres and Daniel Goldman can be seen in videos from Capitol Hill reporters walking into the freshman Republican's Capitol Hill office, where an NY1 reporter said Santos was spotted inside.

Torres, a Democrat from the Bronx, wrote in a tweet that Santos "has been put on notice."

"Not only for the lies he tells but also for the laws he has broken. George Santos must and will be held accountable," Torres tweeted.

The new ethics complaint comes a day after a Washington, D.C.-based watchdog group issued a formal complaint with the Federal Elections Committee accused Santos, 34, of illegally funneling money from unknown sources into his own campaign.

Goldman, who represents New York City's 10th district, wrote on Twitter that "George Santos, by his own admission, is an outright fraud."

"The House has an obligation to police itself and maintain the integrity of the institution," Goldman tweeted. "Today’s Ethics Committee complaint that I filed along with @RepRitchie is the first step to holding George Santos accountable."

The lawmakers told The New York Times they asked the House Ethics Committee to look into whether Santos, who represents parts of Nassau and Queens in the 3rd District, deliberately misrepresented his finances and campaign spending and donations in his congressional disclosures.

Specifically, Torres and Goldman want the committee to determine whether Santos violated the Ethics in Government Act by filing his disclosures late, and with missing information, the Times reported.

In addition to the new ethics committee complaint and yesterday's FEC complaint, Santos is facing local and federal criminal investigations. A 2008 check fraud case from Brazil will also be reopened, Brazilian authorities announced last week.

Santos has not replied to requests seeking comments. On Tuesday morning, he told CBS News that he did "nothing wrong" and that he expects to be on congressional committees.

On Monday, a new report by CNBC said that during Santos' campaign, someone on his team impersonated the chief of staff of Kevin McCarthy, according to several wealthy donors who received calls and emails from the staffer.
