Parking Meters Suspended In Port Washington For Holiday Season

Free parking will begin today until January 1 on designated roads.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — North Hempstead has lifted Port Washington's street meter parking restrictions for the 2025 holiday season, Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte said. Parking fees will be suspended from Nov. 26 to Jan. 1.

This initiative is co-sponsored by the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce.

Dalimonte said she hopes this initiative will encourage shoppers to support local businesses.

"When residents order from Amazon, nothing goes back into the community," she told Patch. "When you shop local, you’re supporting a business that employs residents from your community, sponsors little league baseball teams, and donates to your community’s non-profits."

Motorists must still comply with the posted time limitations. Metered parking will be suspended on the following Port Washington roads:

  • Port Washington Boulevard– Mertz Place to Campus Drive & Bogart Avenue to Chestnut Road
  • Main Street– Port Washington Boulevard to Anchorage Road
  • Irma Avenue, S. Maryland Avenue, and Carlton Avenue
  • Haven Avenue from Main Street to Franklin Avenue
