• Port Washington water commissioner Brandon Kurz loses reelection bid (newsday.com) — Port Washington residents have a new Water Pollution Control District commissioner after challenger Joseph D’Alonzo defeated incumbent Brandon Kurz in Tuesday’s election, 947 votes to 303. The race followed months of tension over Kurz’s role with the Port Washington Police Athletic League and control of Sunset Park, and D’Alonzo will begin his three-year term in January.
