Polar Plungers Will Brave Chilly Hempstead Bay For Special Olympics

The Town of North Hempstead's "Freezin' for a Reason" event returns to Port Washington in February after being paused due to the pandemic.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — On Feb. 4, North Hempstead residents are once again encouraged to "freeze for a reason" at the town's annual polar plunge benefiting Special Olympics New York.

The 2023 Annual Town of North Hempstead Polar Plunge at North Hempstead Beach Park will take place at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the plunge kicks off at 11 a.m.

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena said she was glad to see the event return after a several-year pause due to the pandemic.
