Port Washington Basketball Team Falls Short In State Title Game

Paul Schreiber High School lost to Shaker High School in the Class AAA final.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The remarkable run by the Paul Schreiber High School boys basketball team took them all the way to the state championship game. However, the Port Washington squad fell short in the Class AAA title game to Shaker High School.

Shaker held on for a 55-50 victory on Friday.

Port Washington had advanced the day before with an 11-point semifinal win over Jamestown.

They reached the state tournament after winning their first Long Island championship since 1946.
