Port Washington Girls Tennis Team Takes Long Island Title

The Vikings bested Harborfields 6-1 and head to the New York State Championships this weekend to compete for the state title.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Port Washington High School varsity girls tennis players are officially Long Island champions.

The Vikings took their third Long Island title since 2017 and now head to the USTA National Tennis Center on Friday for the state championships.

On Tuesday, the team beat Harborfields 6-1.

“We have eight seniors that helped keep our tennis program at the top of Long Island these past few years and I’m so thrilled for them that they get to wrap up their high school tennis career with a championship," Coach Shane Helfner said.

Next, Port Washington will face Clarence, and then the winner of Scarsdale versus Bethlehem for the state title.
