Port Washington House Fire: Oil Burner Suspected
BREAKING: The blaze broke out Thursday morning.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Firefighters have contained a blaze that broke out on the second floor of a Port Washington home Thursday morning. The Port Washington Fire Department arrived to the burning home near Guilford and Lynn roads around 7 a.m., the Flower Hill Hose Co. No. 1 wrote in a Facebook post. Indications were it was an oil burner fire.
Shortly after arriving, Assistant Chief Brian Waterson upgraded the alarm to indicate it was a working house fire. Despite initial struggles with a frozen hydrant, firefighters ultimately hooked up a hose and made their way inside to extinguish the blaze.
Crews contained the fire to a single corner of the home, firefighters said.
