Port Washington Schools Announce Early Dismissal Monday, Schools Closed Tuesday

Officials make announcement about school closings.

With a major blizzard approaching, Port Washington school officials have announced an early dismissal for elementary and middle school students on Monday and the closing of school on Tuesday.

Here are the details from the district’s website:

ALERT: School Closed Tuesday, January 27, 2015This is Dr. Kathleen Mooney with an important message from the Port Washington School District. Due to predicted heavy snow and potentially hazardous road conditions, all schools will be closed Tuesday, January 27, 2015. This includes all private, parochial and special education schools as well as after school and evening activities. Depending on the strength, duration and timing of the storm, and road conditions, a decision about Wednesday, January 28, 2015 will be made tomorrow. Please take care and stay safe.

ALERT: Early Dismissal - Monday, January 26, 2015.Due to the current weather predictions for Monday, January 26, 2015 and concerns regarding transportation at the normal dismissal hours, we will shorten the school day as follows:

For Schreiber High School and Weber Middle School dismissal will begin at 12:45PM.

Each elementary school will dismiss earlier than its normal dismissal time. Therefore Daly will dismiss at 1:25PM, Guggenheim and Manorhaven at 1:40PM, followed by South Salem and Sousa at 2:00PM. The Pre-K program will also dismiss at 1:25PM.

There will be no after school or evening activities including cancellation of Kids Port, the JCC program and the Daly afterschool program. This message is being sent tonight so that families will have time to make necessary child care preparations for tomorrow. A decision regarding schools closing for Tuesday, January 27 will be made tomorrow. As always, please exercise caution and stay safe.
