5 Things: Ghouls & Gourds, Vixen Cabaret and Halloween Happenings

2. Celebrate Halloween. Hurricane Sandy might wash out Oct. 31, but there are tons of events this weekend. See our lists of Halloween kids events, Halloween bar bashes, and Halloween pup parades.

3. Go to the Health and Harvest Fair. In the midst of all the Halloween happenings this weekend, there is also a Health and Harvest Fair at Duryea Presbyterian Church (Sterling Place at Underhill) where there will be food, live music and children's games and activities, as well as health resources including free screenings, free food giveaways, free massages, cooking demos and martial arts and yoga. Noon to 4 p.m. Free.
4. Be Ghoulish. We have the list of Halloween events above, but this one deserves special attention. Today is the Ghouls & Gourds Festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a fantastical costume party for adults and kids with colossal puppets, boisterous live music, hands-on workshops and other activities. Brooklyn Botanic Garden, 990 Washington Ave., 12-6 p.m. Free with admission of $10 adults, $5 seniors and students with ID, kids 11 and under are free.

5. Spend the evening at your favorite bar. A lot going on in Prospect Heights tonight including: Trevor McSpadden and Vixens & Vagabonds Cabaret at Branded Saloon, Comic Tales of Tragic Heartbreak at The Way Station and the Thirst for Obama Fundraiser at Thirstbaravin, Classon Ave. at Pacific St.
