5 Things: Rockabilly/Blues, Coat Collection and Berm Clean-up

1. Donate a coat. New York Cares has expanded its list of coat drive drop-off points to meet the unprecedented need due to Superstorm Sandy this winter. Check out where you can drop off coats here. 

2. Help clean up. On Saturday, help out at the Friends of the Berms - Park Cleaning & Greening, cleaning up those woody hills on Grand Army Plaza. This is the final clean-up 'till spring and wil include rectifying damage from Superstorm Sandy. The event ends with a pizza lunch provided as a thank you from the Prospect Park Alliance. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Meet at Plaza St. East and Vanderbilt Avenue.

3. Dance your heart out. If you need to let loose, you're in luck, because the SIN-SONICS are playing at The Way Station. The "high-energy, fast-paced, progressive, rockabilly-jump blues-hard rock band" (according to The Way Station) is worth a listen. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect, free.

4. Spend some quality time with your honey. If you're in need of a date night, consider leaving your kids at the Parents' Night Out Monthly Pajama Party! At $45 for the first kid and $25 for siblings, the three hour drop off may not save you any money, but the event includes dinner and fun activities for the kids and raises money for young mothers in need. Kidville, 808 Union St. 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

5. Move the car. Yup. Alternate side parking rules are in effect for everywhere except Sandy-hit areas (and no, Prospect Heights doesn't qualify). The next suspension is Thanksgiving.
