The tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan will reopen to cars during rush hour, beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced. One lane of the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel, formerly known as the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel will be open to passenger vehilces daily from 6am-10am (Manhattan bound) and 3pm-7pm (Brooklyn bound). The second lane will remain reserved for buses during those hours. While the East Tube is open, the West Tube,  normally used for Brooklyn-bound traffic, remains closed for repairs. On Monday, the MTA began allowing buses through the tunnel during rush hour. The tunnel has been closed for nearly two weeks after it was flooded during Superstorm Sandy.
