CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The driver of a car that hit a Crown Heights funeral home Tuesday evening accumulated 25 speeding tickets in three months and once interrupted a press conference on traffic policy by running a red light.

A blue Dodge Charger hit the House of Hills Funeral Home, located at the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue and St. John's Place, shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Shmuli Evers, who witnessed the aftermath of the incident, said it appeared that a gate and some planters in front of the funeral home sustained damage, but the building itself was not harmed.

The FDNY responded to the crash, Evers said.

An FDNY spokesperson and the House of Hills Funeral Home did not immediately respond to Patch's requests for comment.

This is not the first time that car has been involved in traffic incidents — Patch confirmed the car has New York license plate KNF5503, and a database shows dozens of violations associated with that plate from June 24 to Sept. 27.

The car's driver has incurred 9 "failure to stop at red light" violations, 25 "school zone speed camera" violations and seven "bus lane" violations.

On Sept. 13, the driver of the blue car interrupted Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams' press conference on traffic policy, attendee Seth Pollack said.

"Eric Adams was giving prepared remarks on traffic policy as driver after driver honked, sped, or ran red lights behind him," Pollack told Patch. "This blue car pulled up, and a passenger put his whole body out the window to gawk at the press conference. Then the driver loudly pulled off through a red light."

After the driver pulled away, the crowd started chanting "Fix the streets!" and Adams began talking about how he's "on the front lines" of the issue, Pollack said.

"I appreciate that Eric Adams and Senator Gounardes spoke about these issues, and I hope this just encourages them to keep working to get dangerous drivers off the streets," Pollack said.
