CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A fundraiser aimed at helping the family of a Brooklyn mom who was shot while coming home from work last week has raised more than $10,000 in just a few days.

Emergency responders found 54-year-old Limose Thomas shot in the chest just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday on St. Johns Place between Rochester and Buffalo avenues, according to police and the GoFundMe. She was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

A 30-year-old man was also injured in the shooting. He was brought to the hospital in stable condition, police said.

Thomas' son, Janse Joseph, says his mom, a home health aide, was headed home from work at the time of the shooting. She was almost at her doorstep when she was shot, he told Pix11. Police told the outlet Thomas was not believed to be the intended target.

"She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time," Joseph writes on the fundraiser.

The GoFundMe had raised more than $10,200 of its $30,000 goal as of Tuesday morning.

Thomas and Joseph are both from Haiti and have been living in the United States for three years, according to the GoFundMe.

Joseph said the funds will be used to help pay for his mother's funeral.

"I’m absolutely devastated by my mother’s death," Joseph wrote. "...She was a great mother. I regret the fact she doesn’t know how much I love her and after all she has done for me, I didn’t get a chance to do nothing for her. She was all I had and she has taken away from me so tragically."
