Crown Heights Fire Leaves Man Dead; 2nd Fatal Blaze In 2 Days

The fire broke out Thursday night.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A fire inside of a Crown Heights apartment left one man dead, the second fatal fire in the neighborhood in two days, according to the FDNY.

Firefighters rushed to the apartment on the corner of Kingston and Lefferts avenues just after 10 p.m. on Thursday night, police said.

They found a 51-year-old man who was unconscious with burns all over his body, authorities said. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The fire marshal is determining the cause of the blaze.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, an 81-year-old woman died in an apartment fire on Pacific Street, near New York Avenue.
