Downtown Brooklyn's Alamo Drafthouse Is Now A Spike Lee Joint: Report

The Alamo Drafthouse is dedicating its newly renovated Brooklyn movie theater to the local filmmaker.

BROOKLYN, NY—Downtown Brooklyn movie theater Alamo Drafthouse will dedicate its newly renovated theater to legendary Brooklyn filmmaker Spike Lee later this week, Variety reports.

The dedication will take place on Thursday, where a special plaque naming the theater "Spike Lee Cinema" will be unveiled in a ceremony followed by a screening of Lee's 1994 film “Crooklyn” and a Q&A with the filmmaker. The event is private, Variety reports.

"I Thank The ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE For The Acknowledgement Of My Body Of Work. Now BROOKLYN Has The Great Movie House To See GREAT MOVIES. And As We Know WORLD WIDE Our Beloved BROOKLYN IZ ALWAYS IN DA HOUSE," Lee wrote on Instagram.
