Woman Dead In Crown Heights Fire: Police

A 54-year-old woman was killed after a late night fire Tuesday, according to officials.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A woman was found dead after a fire erupted in Crown Heights Tuesday night, according to officials.

Flames erupted in the two-story home at 256 Rochester Ave., near St. Johns Place, about 10 p.m., according to officials.

It took firefighters an hour to extinguish the blaze and find the woman inside, officials said.

The woman, 54, was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where she died, police said.

Both the cause of the fire and the cause of the victim's death are still to be determined by fire and medical officials, police noted.
