BROOKLYN, NY — A Long Island man who police say tried to sexually assault a woman on a bench in Grand Army Plaza has been caught, according to the NYPD.

Louis Colbert, 25, was arrested Thursday, just days after he followed a 29-year-old woman out of the Grand Army Plaza station on Sunday and started to masturbate in front of her in broad daylight, according to police.

He then forced the woman onto a bench and tried to sexually assault the woman before fleeing into Prospect Park, police said.

Colbert, who is from Hempstead, faces criminal sex act, sex abuse, sexual misconduct, stalking and public lewdness charges, according to police.
