BROOKLYN, NY — A woman was pistol-whipped and kicked by a purse snatcher on a Brooklyn 5 train last week, according to police.

The 44-year-old woman was riding the northbound 5 train near Prospect Lefferts Garden's Sterling Street station when the man came up and hit her in the face with his gun, police said.

The attacker then grabbed her purse and began kicking the woman as she fell to the ground, police said.

The man fled at Sterling Street station with the woman's purse, which had $1,000, her ID and wallet, according to police.

The woman was rushed to Kings County Hospital and is in stable condition, police said.
