Gunfire at Bearded Lady

Someone fired a shot into the open front door of the Washington Avenue bar, The Bearded Lady early one morning last week.

On Monday, Nov. 19 at about 3:30 a.m., the owner said he heard gunshots and then he found a bullet fragments inside the restaurant. No one was injured.

The same morning, a 49-year-old man found a crack on his car’s wind shied and a bullet on the dashboard around 5:30 a.m. The car was parked on St. Marks Avenue between Classon and Grand avenues.

 

Chavelas Purse Swipe

A 26-year-old woman reported that she was sitting at the bar at Chavela’s on Franklin Avenue at Sterling Place on Wednesday, Nov. 21 with her purse hanging on the chair and when she got up to leave at about 10:30 p.m., it was gone.  Inside the handbag were keys and $80 in cash.

 

Multi-Motor Theft

A crook stole six motors from a construction site on Plaza Street East sometime between Nov. 21 and 26. 

The construction company, C&D Restoration Inc., was doing work at the building between Vanderbilt and Flatbush avenues, and had the six motors on three different scaffolds. The thief stole four Skyclimber 1250s, a total of $6,000, and two Skyclimber Alpha 1000, for $5,000 in total.

 

Woman Charged With Smashing Car Window

A 28-year-old woman was charged with breaking the rear window of a 49-year-old man’s car, which was parked at St. Johns Place and Franklin Avenue. The woman allegedly smashed the window at 11:40 p.m. and was arrested a block away at Sterling Place and Franklin Avenue at 12:23 a.m. where the victim and cops spotted her while searching the neighborhood. The report does not indicate the woman’s motive, but did say that the pair did not know each other.

 

Cat Food Theft 

A 64-year-old woman reported that someone stole $185 worth of groceries and other items from the trunk of her car including a tool box, boots, cat food, a bag of groceries and cash. The theft took place sometime between 3 and 5 p.m. on Monday Nov. 19 on Eastern Parkway between Underhill and Washington Avenues.
