Men Beat Kiosk Clerk With Newspaper Stand in Brooklyn Subway, Police Say
Things got ugly, police say, after two men tried to use fake money at a kiosk inside the Franklin Avenue/Eastern Parkway subway station.
CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn police officers are trying to find two men who they say assaulted a subway kiosk clerk after trying to make purchases with counterfeit money.
Around 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 13, the 37-year-old clerk observed two men approach his kiosk on the Franklin Avenue/Eastern Parkway subway platform and try to buy items with fake money, according to the NYPD.
After the clerk confronted the two men, things got physical, police said.

One of the men hit the clerk with a plastic newspaper stand and the other punched him in the left arm before fleeing on foot, police said.
The men are described as black with dark complexions, 25 years old, around 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, police said. They were last seen wearing black coats, black jeans and black sneakers.
