MISSING: Brooklyn Mental Patient Michael Giancola

Giancola, 56, disappeared early Tuesday morning from his home at Crown Heights' Institute for Community Living, police say.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A 56-year-old man went missing Tuesday from the Institute for Community Living, a mental-health facility on Saint Marks Place in Crown Heights, according to local police.

The missing man, Michael Giancola, was last seen around 8 a.m. Tuesday wearing a teal fleece and khaki shorts "in the vicinity of his residence," the NYPD said in a media alert sent out later that same evening.

Police described Giancola as a white man with a "light complexion, brown eyes and gray hair," standing around 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing approximately 250 pounds.

Anyone with information on Giancola's whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). For Spanish, call 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Tips can also be submitted by logging onto the Crime stoppers website by by texting 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
