Brooklyn Woman Leaves for July 4 Fireworks Show, Never Comes Back: NYPD
Crown Heights resident Leila Gonzalez-Matos, 51, was on her way to watch fireworks at the Brooklyn Bridge, cops say, but never returned.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN, NY — A missing Crown Heights woman (pictured above) was last seen leaving her home on July 4, police said.
Leila Gonzalez-Matos, 51, was seen on that day at about 8 p.m. leaving her home, located at 959 Saint Marks Ave., according to the NYPD.

According to police, she was on her way to watch the East River fireworks show from the Brooklyn Bridge, but never returned. It was not clear which route she was planning to take.
Gonzalez-Matos was not reported missing to authorities until more than a week later, on July 12.

Detectives describe Leila as standing five-feet-five-inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. She has a medium build, a light complexion, black hair and brown eyes. Leila has tattoos on both of her arms, and was last seen wearing tan shorts, white Jordan sneakers and a white T-shirt.
