More Than 200 Local Artists Will Show At Brooklyn Museum
The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition will open in October.

BROOKLYN, NY — The Brooklyn Museum has just selected more than 200 local artists to participate in the Brooklyn Artists Exhibition, which will be on view from October 4 to January 26, 2025.
The show will celebrate the creativity and diversity of the borough's artists and will honor the museum's 200th anniversary.
“For years, artists have been asking us to organize a big Brooklyn artists exhibition, and now we’ve done it,” said Brooklyn Museum Director Anne Pasternak.

More than 4,000 artists applied for a spot in the show. One of the requirements to apply was that the artist must have occupied studio space in Brooklyn at some point during the last five years.
The final list of artists was chosen through a collaborative process led by Brooklyn Museum Artist Trustees Jeffrey Gibson, Vik Muniz, Mickalene Thomas and Fred Tomaselli.

Among the Brooklyn artists on the list is Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya, known for her multi-media murals and public installations, and Melissa Joseph, who makes evocative family scenes out of felt and wool.
The show will highlight a variety of disciplines, including drawing, painting, collage and assemblage, video, multimedia, installation, sculpture, and performance.
“Brooklyn has more artists than anywhere, and we are thrilled to expand the ways we support the excellence of our incredible borough,” Pasternak said.
