Mom and Tot Uninjured After Vanderbilt Avenue Hit-and-Run
Van keeps going after hitting stroller while turning onto Prospect Place.

If you saw the collection of police cars and emergency vehicles outside Milk Bar this morning, here's what happened:
A woman was pushing a 2-year-old girl in a stroller across Prospect Place shortly before 11 a.m. Friday when a delivery van turning off of Vanderbilt lightly hit the stroller, witnesses said.

The mom and tot were shaken but appeared uninjured. However they went to the hospital as a precaution, a friend who was with them said.
The friend said the delivery van driver was going fairly slowly, but didn't seem to see the stroller. After hitting the tot the driver kept going, she said.

Accidents on Vanderbilt Avenue happen often. Here are a few in the past year in which the driver didn't stop:
- On June 18, a 28-year-old man riding northbound on Vanderbilt Avenue was struck by a car turning onto Pacific Street.
-On Dec. 5, 2011 a woman riding a bicycle with her 2-year-old daughter onboard were hit by an SUV on Vanderbilt Avenue as they crossed Park Place.
- On Oct. 11, 2011 a man was crossing at the corner at Vanderbilt Avenue and Park Place when he was hit by a car that kept going.
