Subway Update: G Train Soon, B Train Back

After being knocked out for nearly a week, the G train could be up and running soon.

The MTA is running tests on the line today, a spokesman said.

There is also good news for B-Train riders: the train came back Tuesday morning along along with extended service on the Q, A and C trains.

In addition, the L-train’s tunnel under the East River is now dry and “is being assessed,” according to the MTA.

Service has been fully restored to the following lines 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, B, C, D and E trains and the Franklin Avenue and 42nd Street shuttles. (See larger map of restored subway service in the photo gallery.)

But the Z and Rockaway Park Shuttle trains are still suspended, and many stations are still closed in storm-damaged areas.

Here is a list of stations that still remain closed as of noon on Tuesday, Nov. 6:

Brooklyn

• All G stations from Greenpoint Avenue to Church Avenue.  However, Hoyt-Schermerhorn is serviced by the A/C and stations from Bergen Street to Church Avenue are serviced by the F.
• All L stations between Bedford Avenue and Bushwick Ave-Aberdeen Street.
• All N stations along the Sea Beach line between 8th Avenue and Coney Island.
• 25th Avenue D, Bay 50th Street D, Coney Island D
• Neptune Avenue F, West 8th St-NY Aquarium F, Coney Island F
• Ocean Parkway Q, West 8th St-NY Aquarium Q, Coney Island Q

Manhattan

• Rector St 1, South Ferry 1 (South Ferry closed indefinitely)
• Fulton St J, Broad Street J
• City Hall R, Cortlandt St R, Rector St R, Whitehall St R
• All L stations from 8th Avenue to 1st Avenue.

                     
Queens

• Court Square G, 21st Street G
• All A stations between Howard Beach and Far Rockaway-Mott Ave and Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Street

Voter Shuttles:

The MTA is running shuttle buses to take voters to polling places in Coney Island, Staten Island and the Rockaways. 

Bus Service:

Bus service is mostly back to normal, although some routes may have minor detours due to street conditions. Signs will alert customers of the change.

Tunnels: 

For drivers, note that the Hugh Carey Tunnel ( aka the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel) is still closed, but one lane of the Queens Midtown Tunnel has re-opened to buses during rush hour.
