Subway Slasher Who Cut Woman On Rush Hour Train Sent To Prison

Christopher Lange cut his victim from ear to lip and ran off with her cellphone.

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY – A thug who slashed a woman he didn't know from ear to lip as she rode a rush hour subway through Crown Heights will spend seven years in prison.

Christopher Lange, 26, cut the woman before snatching her cell phone and running off the Manhattan bound C train at the Nostrand Avenue stop at 5:45 p.m. on April 17, 2017, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said Tuesday, a day after the attacker was sentenced.

Just 20 minutes before the attack, he'd unsuccessfully tried to rob another woman and muttered "You're lucky I didn't cut your little face" as he got off the train, Gonzalez said.

Police found him hours later in New Jersey. He still had his victim's cell phone and was carrying a razor blade, the district attorney said.

Lange, of Flatlands, pleaded guilty to robbery.

“All New Yorkers depend on the subways to get to work, school, home and other places," Gonzalez said.

"They must be able to ride the trains safely without fear of being robbed or attacked. Today’s sentencing ensures that this defendant is held accountable for his actions and will not be able to harm anyone else in our community.”
