BROOKLYN, NY — New details — and suspects — have emerged in the brutal attack on an MTA bus driver, who was stabbed and slashed in the face while driving near Prospect Park on Tuesday, according to police.

Police revealed late Tuesday that a total of three men attacked the driver, who was driving a Q train shuttle stopped in traffic near Flatbush and Ocean avenues just after midnight when his attackers tried to board, police said.

When the driver demanded the first man get off the bus, he took out a knife, police said.

The second and third man then got on the shuttle as the man started to stab the 39-year-old driver in the head and stomach, police said. They both started threatening the driver with boxcutters, police said.

Police had originally told Patch only one man was involved in the stabbing. They believed the dispute had started because the man refused to pay his fare — which the MTA later pointed out wasn't likely given the bus was a free shuttle provided during a Q train outage.

The three men all fled the bus after the attack, two heading south on Ocean Avenue and the other east on Empire Boulevard, police said.

The driver was rushed to the hospital by emergency responders, police said. He was in stable condition as of late Tuesday.

Police have released photos of all three men involved in the attack:
